The Quantum Tree is the first ever video game for quantum computers. Essentially a text adventure, the game echoes its quantum calculations on a macroscopic level. At each decision point of the game the player may choose one of two options, or both - mimicking the concept of quantum superposition which underlies the power of quantum computing.




System Requirements

  • Windows XP (or later, but has only been tested on XP).
  • QCL quantum simulator (see below) OR (optional) 8-qubit quantum computer.
  • You may need .Net to be installed. It can be found here.

Installation

  • Download this package and unzip it into a folder of your choice.
  • By default, TQT will use a simulator in the QCL language to perform quantum computations. You will need to unzip the files from the package into the directory where you installed TQT. If you wish to use a different simulator, or an actual quantum computer, you will need to replace the file QC.exe with your own. The Quantum Communicator translates commands to and from the QCL language. Source code is provided so you can easily replace QC.exe.
  • Open The Quantum Tree.exe to run the game.
